For publishers and estates
If you hold a title that deserves readers abroad and no longer has them, we would like to hear about it. We take world-excluding-home rights for a fixed term, carry the production cost, and pay against sales. You keep your edition.
For libraries and booksellers
Our editions carry their own ISBNs and full metadata, and are available to the trade on standard terms. Institutional and course-adoption enquiries, including standing orders for African studies collections, are welcome.
What we look for
Two kinds of book. Nonfiction with a long half-life — memoir, reportage, political history, biography, essays. And the canonical literature of Nigerian languages, Yorùbá above all, including the plays and novels still taught in schools at home but unbuyable abroad. In both cases: books that were important once and have been out of reach long enough that a generation has grown up without them.
What we do not do
We are not a first-publication house and we do not take unpublished manuscripts. Everything we issue has been published before, somewhere, by someone.
What to send
One email is enough to start. The more of this you can answer, the faster we can say yes or no.
The book
Title, author, first publisher, year of publication, approximate page count, and whether the interior carries photographs or is text only.
The rights
Who holds them now, whether they have reverted from the original publisher, whether any distribution agreement is currently live anywhere outside the home market, and whether photographs inside the book were separately licensed.
